Pokémon Uranium (And How to Get It)

Pokémon has been a part of my life for 20 years now. It all started with trading cards in school and Pokémon Blue on my Gameboy, and to this day, I’ve played every major Pokémon game including many spinoffs. Recently I played the Dragon Ball Z complete conversion of Pokémon Fire Red, and I had an absolute blast. Replacing all the Pokémon with Fighters was such a brilliant idea. After beating that, however, I discovered Pokémon Uranium.

9 years in the making, Pokémon Uranium is a complete ground up re-imagining of what two mega fans (@JVUranium and @VoluntaryTwitch) feel Pokémon should be. With 150 all new Pokémon species, a whole new location called the Tandor Region with multiple environments, cinematic battles and a complete menu overhaul, it’s safe to say that much love and effort went into putting together such an amazing game.

On August 6th, 2016 the game was finally released to the public and was downloaded over 1.5 million times. However, shortly after Nintendo swooped in and shut it all down. Many people were upset that Nintendo did this, but realistically it was to be expected. I’m sure many of the hard working people at Nintendo are proud that fans love Pokémon so much that some would go as far as to spend almost 10 years creating their own game, but when you own intellectual property as massive as Pokémon, you are obligated to protect it. If you go after one, you have to go after them all. That’s just how it works.

Even though you can’t download Pokémon Uranium directly from the creators website, the game is still available on the internet. As we all know, once you upload something to the internet, it’s there forever. We are here to help with that.
