Game Rebel Review of the Battlefield Bad Company 2 BETA

As I awaited the release of the Bad Company 2 BETA, I feel myself filled with excitement of the release of this amazing looking game. I pre-ordered the game on Steam so I could easily have access to the beta for the pc and get some power-ups when the full game is released.

Once 09:00 PST came around I was ready... Bam I see the beta version pop up in my uninstalled games list. I give it a click and start installing. It took about 20 minutes to download and install (kind of slow for a BETA I believe). OK now I'm ready to play and... Wait what is going on? A second install? Hopefully this is just some sort of glitch on steams end of the fence.
Oh well, I really want to play this game so lets just be patient and let it do its thing.
BETA is installed, ready to go, lets do this.

Game starts up nicely, I go through a few screens and finally I make it to the main BETA screen. From here I need to login to my EA account. OK, that's fine IO already have one with BF2. Wrong password? WRONG PASSWORD? I try 5 more times and it finally lets me in... Weird but OK whatever. Now I need to enter a CD key? FINE, so I exit the game, write down my Key from steam (because for some reason DICE did not want to include a paste option into the game), and fire my game back up. This time it goes straight to the KEY input screen. Cool! I input the key and it tells me,"Invalid Key"... I try two more times and realize that I need to include the dashes in between every fourth character of the code. OK, it finally works, but I am prompted to input my EA username and Password in AGAIN. I try several times with no success and then I get blocked. Too many login attempts.. I get blocked for 5 hours... WHY!!!! Immediately I visit the EA website and try out my username and password.. It works.

After 5 hours of anger and boredom I decide to get back on the computer. Its Bad Co. 2 time..
I reluctantly get back onto my computer and fire up the game. Everything goes smoothly this time... Thank god! I create a clan tag for my character and hit connect. After about 2 minutes I am welcomed to the sound of explosions and gun fire.

After a couple hours of playing I have an interesting conclusion for the BETA.
As all seasoned BF players know, this game is not about getting the most kills. Its about accomplishing the mission, and the mission is to take over. Its fun, it has good graphics, players seem to naturally be pushed to work together, the weapons are cool. The fact that you can destroy a whole building with the enemy inside it is my favorite thing.

With that said, obviously a beta won’t overwhelm you with too many options, BC 2 keeps things simple. Join a game, pick a kit (four in all), and start playing. You can choose to jump into a squad and spawn with them or go lone wolf. Completing objectives, killing baddies, and playing your kit properly (i.e. medics heal and engineers fix vehicles) will reward you with points, ranks, and weapon upgrades. DICE seems pretty generous with the amount of points they give to medics so I naturally progressed over to them, as I’m more of a lover, not a fighter anyways.
If you’ve played any Battlefield game before you’ll fit right in. If your a Call of Duty type of player, BC 2 is probably not your type of game.

I give Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - 3 Broken Keyboards out of 5

No Prone .. makes the sniper class almost impossible to play .. already to easy to spot snipers in BF2 being able to go prone :(

You forgot to mention that the friends list doesn't work right, the server list takes forever to refresh, the game is imbalanced (highly in favor of offense), and the optimization is atrocious.

Yes, I pre-ordered it after getting into the beta without doing so.

the last patch that was supposed to Optimize the beta more....helped slightly but not enough for me personally. I've lasted 5 years on this card ( and it was already kinda dated then) so I'd say I'm pretty satisfied with how its service..but alas...Its time to Upgrade if i want to play BFBC2. As far as my processor is concerned...It's handled Aion pretty well ( As in It can handle being in a Fort siege with out the game crashing....If anything the graphics card couldn't support all of the characters that needed rendering and there were well over 100 of each faction) so i'm pretty sure it can handle 32 people on a BFBC2 server.

Look forward to playing with all of you, as soon as I am able to ( so long as I can get cash for this 360 Elite that I can't even use because Microsoft failed to package the right Power brick -_- )

sorry for getting a little ranty lol
